Space Duel is a free browser game operated by an individual developer (“ksquarekr”, “we”).
This policy explains what data the game handles and why. We keep it minimal: there are no user
accounts, no passwords, no email collection, no advertising, and no third-party analytics or
trackers. The game and its leaderboard are self-hosted.
What we store
On your device (browser localStorage): your game progress, settings, and a random
player ID (a 32-character hex string generated locally). This never leaves your device
except when attached to a leaderboard submission. Clearing your browser storage erases it.
On our leaderboard server (only if you submit a score): your random player ID, the
display name you choose, your best scores and their timestamps, and a short-lived
session token. We also temporarily record the requesting IP address for rate-limiting
and abuse prevention.
Why we store it
Player ID + scores + display name: to show global leaderboards and let you keep your ranking
across devices via a transfer code.
IP address: solely to throttle abuse and flood/cheat attempts. It is not used to profile or
identify you and is not shared.
Session token: to sign score submissions and prevent tampering.
What we do NOT do
No advertising, no ad networks, no cross-site trackers, no third-party analytics.
No selling or sharing of personal data.
No cookies used for tracking (we use browser localStorage for game state only).
Retention
Leaderboard entries persist until you delete them or request deletion. IP-based rate-limit
records are transient and pruned automatically (within about an hour). Local game data lives in
your browser until you clear it.
Your choices & rights
Access / portability: use “export identity code” in-game to carry your data to another
device.
Rectification: rename your pilot in the game’s settings/leaderboard screen.
Erasure: use “Delete my data” on the in-game Leaderboard screen to permanently
remove your leaderboard entry, name, and scores. You may also email us (below) to request
deletion.
Because a player ID is anonymous and random, we cannot look you up by name/email — deletion is
keyed to your device’s player ID, so make the request from the device that holds it (or include
your player ID / display name in an email request).
Children
Space Duel is a general-audience game and does not knowingly collect personal information from
children. We collect no names, emails, or contact details beyond the optional display name.
